Full concept, design and planning service for private clients resulted in this simple vernacular home set on the edge of the River Cam and overlooking the village green. It was a replacement dwelling in a designated Conservation Area where normally such development is resisted unless it can be demonstrated that the benefits of the proposed replacement dwelling outweigh those of retaining the original.
Through targeted concept work with the conservation officer and planning officer, we were able to demonstrate a range of benefits and the result is truly stunning and furthermore was approved without the need to go to full committee.
The project incorporated a full oak frame from T J Crump Oakwrights Ltd and was self managed by the clients.
The planning authority was Uttlesford District Council
