Full concept, design and planning service for private clients resulted in this cottage inspired replacement dwelling.
The site originally featured an uninspiring red brick and pantile bungalow and there were a number of existing significant trees to work with. As the site was located within a designated Conservation Area, these trees were subject to a tree preservation order (TPO). We therefore had to work closely with the trees officer, conservation officer and planning officer to make sure the design and layout was acceptable in all respects. It was approved upon first submission without the need to go to full committee.
PJT Design Ltd worked closely with the clients to ensure the correct materials and detailing were incorporated and the success of this project is in the simplicity of the appearance which is very reminiscent of classic Cambridgeshire village cottages.
The project incorporated a full oak frame from T J Crump Oakwrights Ltd and was self managed by the clients.
The planning authority was South Cambs District Council
