Buckingham Country House

Full concept, design and planning service for private clients resulted in this quirky mixed materials country house set in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and Countryside Beyond the Green Belt.

The site originally featured a chalet style property of render, tile hanging and timber boarding appearance but was in a state of disrepair. It did have a number of links and outbuildings attached to it which were useful in our volume calculations when presenting the scheme to the LPA as part of the pre-application presentation. The LPA accepted the fact that although the proposed dwelling was much larger than the allowance available within policy, the design and choice of materials were of a high standard and therefore these benefits outweighed the increase in size.

Planning permission was granted first time and without the need to go to planning committee.

The project incorporated a full oak frame from T J Crump Oakwrights Ltd and was self managed by the clients.

The planning authority was Wycombe District Council
